| Friday, 11 January, 2002, 12:34 GMT Fifa suspends Bangladesh Football's world governing body, Fifa, has suspended the national federation of Bangladesh (BFF). Fifa officials say the decision was taken after the president of the Bangladesh Football Federation, who was appointed by the new government in Dhaka, fired the BFF's elected executive committee without giving any reasons. The suspension of the BFF means that a seven-nation regional tournament, which is due to start at the end of January, has been thrown into doubt.
