In Bonavash, a village in the mountainous northern region of Abdullah Gan, as in other remote areas, people have nothing to eat but grass. ![]() The villagers are suffering from a hacking cough or diarrhea ![]() Those who haven't fled live in bare huts of baked mud and straw ![]() The hills around Bonavash used to be covered with fields of wheat before the drought hit three years ago ![]() Now the villagers make bread and porridge out of grass ![]() The lucky ones have a trace of barley wheat in their grass bread ![]() Villagers have lost hope and say they are waiting to die |
