In Bonavash, a village in the mountainous northern region of Abdullah Gan, as in other remote areas, people have nothing to eat but grass.
 The villagers are suffering from a hacking cough or diarrhea  Those who haven't fled live in bare huts of baked mud and straw  The hills around Bonavash used to be covered with fields of wheat before the drought hit three years ago  Now the villagers make bread and porridge out of grass  The lucky ones have a trace of barley wheat in their grass bread  Villagers have lost hope and say they are waiting to die | |
