Astronauts from the space shuttle Discovery have failed to repair an improperly installed cargo platform on the international space station during their third and final spacewalk.
Joseph Acaba and Richard Arnold were trying to free the cargo platform which jammed after a locking pin had been installed upside down on an earlier spacewalk.
After banging at the shelf with a hammer and trying unsuccessfully to lever it into the correct position the two astronauts tethered the platform to stop it moving around.
The shuttle needs to leave the station by Wednesday to make way for a Russian Soyuz capsule which is carrying the station's next crew.
