Japan cleans up its coal

The Isogo number one power plant in Japan is one of the most efficient coal-fired power stations in the world.

The boilers heat steam to 600 Celsius - much hotter than usual. That makes the plant around 20% more efficient - and saves around 20% of the CO2.

Roger Harrabin reports from Japan.
