The International Children's Games are being held in Lanarkshire this year, the first time the Games have been held in Scotland. Hutchesons' Grammar School's very own Jamie Fleming, from S3, is going to be competing, playing tennis, in the singles and doubles competitions. It is the biggest event he has ever taken part in and he was certainly not the only one interested in competing in the Games. Jamie survived the selection process and was chosen out of a large group to play. There are 80 teams altogether competing and he is representing the home team, Team Lanarkshire. All the teams are staying at local schools during the competition and Jamie is no different, even though he only lives 15 minutes away! Jamie has been training hard for this event and has gone to special Sunday night training sessions as well as his regular Tuesday, Thursday and Friday night training sessions. There are also training weekends as far away as Loughborough. Jamie is really looking forward to the Games and will be bringing his own family as supporters.
