Students and parents at Baskerville School in Birmingham were transported back to the 80's with a series of four vibrant and exciting workshops comparing life then and now.
Remember the Domesday project? In 1986, the BBC asked 1 million students to take photographs of their area; collectively it was a snapshot of the nation. Baskerville School revisited three pictures taken in Harbourne to see how things had changed.
James helped his Mum hone her internet skills by pinpointing the exact location of an original Domesday photograph. Such intergenerational skill-swapping is the central aim of the School Report First Click initiative.
In another workshop, students compared music of the 80's with chart music today and produced short radio shows, mixing two tracks from each era. Here's Zan making his radio debut.
Hands on the buzzer, it's Who Wants to be a Millionaire? In the third workshop students 'asked the audience' and 'phoned a friend' for help with questions about leisure time, both now and in 1986.
Donkey Kong?
Or the Wii?
In the fourth workshop, students got interactive with technology from the era which brought us the GameBoy and the Polaroid camera.
Students and their parents both agreed it was a fantastic day and teacher Debbie Poole is going to help the students carry on the historical comparisons. They will be reporting on their findings for the BBC in March as part of School Report.
