Pupils went to BBC radio studios to interview Sir Chris

Cycling and Olympic glory were high on the running order for The Charter School in south London.

Students went to the BBC's Broadcasting House in central London to do a "down the line" radio interview with Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy.

"They were looking at the impact of the Olympics on sport," said the school's community manager Lin Proctor.

They kept up the sporting theme in an interview with Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell.

They were keen to talk to her about the campaign to keep the Velodrome at Herne Hill going as a venue for training future Olympic cycling champions.

The students also did a survey about the credit crunch among 600 pupils at the school - then called in the maths department to analyse the data.

One in three pupils was worried about the credit crunch, about a fifth said their parents were spending less on food and presents for them - and two-thirds did not believe the government could solve the problems.
