Prif nod Adroddiad Ysgol Newyddion BBC yw ymddiddori pobl ifanc mewn newyddion o bob math, a'r byd o'u cwmpas, drwy roi'r cyfle iddynt gynhyrchu eu newyddion eu hunain.

Y mae'n gyfle hefyd i fyfyrwyr roi gwybod i gynulleidfa go iawn, drwy raglenni a gwefannau'r BBC, pa straeon sy'n bwysig iddyn nhw.

Mae nifer o athrawon wedi nodi fod cymryd rhan yn yr Adroddiad Ysgol yn atgyfnerthu pob math o ddysgu, er enghraifft drwy helpu'r disgyblion i ddatblygu eu gallu i weithio mewn timau, rheoli eu hamser, gwneud ymholiadau ar eu pennau eu hunain, cyfathrebu'n effeithiol a sgiliau meddwl beirniadol.

Y mae'n gyfle hefyd i ddisgyblion drafod y cyfrifoldebau y mae'n rhaid eu hystyried wrth ddarlledu eu gwaith i gynulleidfa fyd-eang.

Enwebiadau Gwobrwyon

Enwebwyd Adroddiad Ysgol am wobr Bafta Plant yn y categori Dysgu Uwchradd yn 2007 a 2008.

Cyrhaeddodd y prosiect y rhestr fer ar gyfer gwobrau y Gymdeithas Deledu Frenhinol (RTS) yn y categoriau Arloesi mewn Newyddiaduraeth ac Arloesi mewn Addysg 2007.

The main aim of BBC News School Report is to interest young people in news of all sorts, and the world around them, by giving them the chance to make their own news.

It is also an opportunity for students to inform a real audience, via BBC programmes and web pages, about the stories which are important to them.

Many teachers have said that taking part in School Report supports all sorts of learning for instance by helping students develop their ability to work in teams, manage their time, conduct independent enquiries, communicate effectively and think critically.

It is also a chance for students to discuss the responsibilities involved in broadcasting their work to a world wide audience.

Award nominations

School Report was nominated for a Children's Bafta in the Secondary Learning category in 2007 and 2008.

The project was short-listed for a Royal Television Society (RTS) award in both the Innovation in Journalism and Innovation in Education categories of the Television Journalism Awards 2007.
