Today we found ourselves in the BBC TV truck watching as they filmed a Mandarin class at Our Lady's Covent High School in London.
We were there to report on a live TV broadcast about two schools which have been twinned together. Recently some girls from Our Lady's went to China as exchange students.
We watched the reporter talk to two of the girls who went China.
We interviewed one of them, Melissa, who is from Year 10, about schools in China.
She said: "Students are more sensible and they concentrate more in China. They are more eager to learn then we are and well disciplined."
School uniform in Beijing and London |
At Our Lady's, we wear blazers, and a special colour of clothes. In Beijing they wear blue tracksuits with a T-shirt of any colour underneath. Melissa said that Chinese children and young adults learn English in order to come to the UK. She added that some study medicine as one option for a future job.
She described the school as being three times bigger than our school, but very plain with cracks in the floor.
We asked her what she liked best about the school and she said: "I liked how everyone was very friendly and they gave us nice food. It was also kind of them to look after us and show us around."
We asked Melissa what it was like being in front of the camera. She said: "It was quite scary, I had to remember my lines in my head. On the up side it was really cool and exciting."
