The world's biggest prizes for conservation, known as the Nobel prize for the environment have been awarded to six activists at a ceremony in San Francisco. The Goldman Environmental Prize has this year been awarded for work at the grassroots, ranging from cleaning up Chinese industry to protecting the Arctic from oil exploration.

One of the winners, Kenyan activist Ikal Angelei, is leading a campaign against the building of a huge dam in Ethiopia that she believes threatens Kenya's Lake Turkana. She joined Zeinab Badawi from our Washington studio to discuss her win.
