Dangers facing Somalia's displaced people

For twenty years a bloody conflict has been raging in Somalia.

The human cost of the fighting has produced one of the world's most severe refugee problems.

The conflict has also seen 1.5 million people internally displaced within the country's borders.

In 2010 alone, over 300,000 people fled fighting between the Transitional Federal Government and al-Shabab militants.

Zeinab Badawi has been given rare access to displaced people's camps in the towns of Gaalkacyo and Boosaaso in northern Somalia.

World News Today with Zeinab Badawi is broadcast weekdays at 1900, 1930 and 2000 GMT on the BBC World News channel. Find out more information about regional broadcast times here.
