Scratching the vinyl surface

Vinyl records
Vinyl records are a niche market
Twenty five years ago the CD hit the market in the UK and more recently digital formats have become pretty much the norm.

But the older vinyl record appears to be having something of a renaissance.

Jenny visits a vinyl factory where the UK's first record was pressed one hundred years ago.

Back then it was EMI, but today it's privately owned PortalSpace Records which makes three million vinyl records a year.

Jenny's report is available to watch in Friday's programme on the iPlayer for a week after broadcast.
