She visits the Isles of Scilly to find out how businesses manage to thrive despite being away from the mainland.

See below for an outline of the reports and to eatch them again.

ISLAND SERIES

Here's a taster of Rachel's reports.

Watch trail

Rachel kicks off the reports by looking at the vexed question of how to actually get to the Isles. It's no mean feat, as it took her five different forms of transport to get to the hotel.

Watch report

She looks at how dependent the Isles have become on seasonal workers. Ten years ago it was mostly Australians and New Zealanders, now the tourist trade relies heavily on recruiting from Eastern Europe.

Watch report

Rachel spends a day with the first ever Michelin starred chef to have worked on the Isles of Scilly. Kenny Atkinson won his star for the Tean restaurant at the St. Martin's On The Isle hotel. It is only open for seven months of the year, and the chef has to ship huge quantities of ingredients in from the mainland.

Watch report

She visits the beautiful Churchtown Farm on St. Martin's island. It's a flower growing business which is thriving at a time when British flower growers are struggling to compete with foreign imports. But how do they do it?
