 BlackBerry Pearl |
I had thought that being in possession of my first ever BlackBerry for the weekend would change my life.
I would become super-organised information-at-my-fingertips wonder-woman.
Instead I spent a lot of time squinting at the tiny keyboard trying to work out where all the letters are.
It is a lovely handset - shiny and smooth like a good haircut, but I was surprised to find I didn't really like the thought of my emails following me around in my handbag.
I did like the fact I could pull up maps, but I have a handbag sized A-Z and a sat nav for my car so that was more for the novelty factor.
The thing is I use my phone for calling, texting, waking me up and addition.
The BlackBerry had the potential to open up a whole new world. But I didn't really want it to.
I didn't want to check my emails - I didn't even want to know that I could check my emails because knowing I could but choosing not too felt like ignoring a missed call.
So I found myself eyeing it guiltily, and feeling relief when I realised there was nothing lurking in my inbox.
Maybe this says more about my attitude to work than the BlackBerry - but interestingly the other thing I did for the first time this weekend was bake a fruit crumble - apple and blackberry.
But rest assured, no handsets were harmed in the making of this dessert.
