 BlackBerry Curve |
I have to declare an interest in this device.
I am already hooked on BlackBerry, being the owner of a BlackBerry Pearl device, which is considerably smaller than the wider screen Curve.
The turn on for me is the so-called 'push' email service.
I run five email accounts on my device and not only does it allow me to receive emails instantly when I am on the move, I can also cancel emails when I am out of the office, which means I don't face the prospect of sifting through hundreds of messages when I return.
So what does the Curve bring to the equation?
Well, I am a big guy (you might notice that they always put me on the far side of Adam on the settee - because you simply wouldn't see him otherwise!) but I have small fat hands and fingers.
That makes it difficult for me to type on the smaller phone keyboards.
The Curve's wider keyboard is, therefore, a real luxury, particularly when you are typing longer messages or documents.
The Curve's sat nav device is, I have to admit, very cool indeed.
Not only can you use it in the car but you can also use it out in the street and it will even tell you where you can find a restaurant nearby.
Facebook fanatics will be delighted to see that there is an instant link on the Curve desktop and the wider screen makes the navigation of web pages far easier.
The real negative for me is the size - unlike some BlackBerry owners, I use my device for emails and as a phone and I find the Curve just a little on the large size.
The Pearl is much more compact making it easier to slip into the trouser or suit pocket without being too bulky.
It's a small point and it is a matter of personal preference but I will be sticking to my Pearl, even though I know it will be useful to have a device that tells me exactly where I am when I stagger out of this year's Working Lunch Christmas party!
