 TomTom One sat nav |
I have a bit of a thing about wireless technology.
I get worried about what wireless phones, mobiles, wireless internet and all the rest of it do to you.
So I've always backed away from having sat nav in the car.
It's a shame because I get lost the moment I leave my front door.
Well I'm off to a meeting and I'm about to use it. So I will report back on my return.
24 Hours Later...
Well I am converted. Sliced bread and the hot water bottle are nothing compared with this invention.
I love it. It was easy to set up - almost worked straight out of the box.
I had the TomTom One which is one of the cheaper models. It doesn't do much outside of telling where you are and how to get to your destination.
So few added bells and whistles but then I don't want any.
It did however tell me where the local petrol stations were, the local police stations and amusement parks.
A few quibbles. The instructions were very short which was great but it missed some details out and wrongly described others.
However it was so easy to use and almost didn't need any instructions.
The sucker which holds the TomTom would only fix onto the windscreen not the dashboard, which was a bit of a pain.
The only drawback I found was that in town, with so many turnings to choose from, it sometimes wasn't clear which one it wanted me to take.
The traffic was making me make faster decisions than the TomTom was allowing.
It was also a bit untidy trailing the wire from the cigarette lighter across the dashboard to the window.
Nonetheless I got to where I needed to be. Overall something which does its job really well.
