The poll found Alistair Darling was "more trusted" than the Tories
Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling have regained their lead over David Cameron and George Osborne as the team most trusted on the economy.
A poll conducted after the Budget for Friday's edition of BBC2's Daily Politics showed their rating of 34% - up from 28% since 1 March.
But the same survey of opinion found most people think the Budget will not make any difference.
When asked in the poll who people trusted most to steer Britain's economy through the current downturn, just over a third said Brown and Darling - up six percentage points from the beginning of March.
George Osborne's rating has fallen from top previous place in the previous poll
Some 31% of respondents chose the Tory team of Cameron and Osborne - which was down from 35% last time.
And 10% of those polled chose Nick Clegg and Vince Cable.
This was the Liberal Democrats' highest score since this series of questions began - and up from 9% since 1 March.
In the same survey, almost the same number of people think that the Budget will be good for Britain (20%) as think it will be bad (19%).
