Following Sarah Brown's intervention at the Labour conference Daily Politics looks at rise in stature of the political wife.

Gordon Brown's children may not be his props, but, looking at the headlines following his Labour conference speech, his wife clearly is.

When Sarah Brown took the platform, ahead of her husband's do-or-die speech, she threw him, to quote one newspaper, a "wifeline".
