Hammond warns Syria intervention risks 'major conflict'

Coogan backs torture ruling on Qatada

The Defence Secretary Philip Hammond has said military intervention in Syria was not being contemplated at this time as it is a "militarily strong country" and any intervention would result in a "very major military conflict".

He urged Russia and China to align with the rest of the international community to start "tightening the noose on this despicable regime".
