11+ selection is the norm in Kent |
Kent is one of the few counties that still selects pupils via the 11+ system at the age of 11.
Those that pass attend one of the counties grammar schools, the others go to the comprehensives.
In one town a grammar school with 98% A-C pass rate sits alongside a comprehensive with 29%.
If good schools are allowed to expand will this mean the end of a two tier system or will the poorer achieving schools suffer even more?
Parents and education professionals on both sides of the selection fence hold strong views on the current system, whilst others wish the Government would simply stop meddling in their children's education.
