Albanian guilty of being part of a trafficking gang |
Politics Show Wales this week turns its attention to the vexed issue of sex for sale in Cardiff.
Calls for tighter regulation of massage parlours which act as brothels have been made after a woman was forced to work as a prostitute.
On Thursday 17 November 2005, a 19-year-old Albanian was found guilty of being part of a gang who trafficked a Lithuanian woman into working from a Cardiff massage parlour.
The case has caused a stir in the capital but how widespread is the trafficking of prostitutes and how easily can sex be bought in Cardiff?
Politics Show Wales discovered that sexual services can be easily obtained from so-called saunas - a situation which has now led to calls for the laws to be reviewed.
Jenny Randerson, the Assembly Member for Cardiff Central in whose constituency many of these establishments are to be found firmly believes that the laws need reviewing and that the only answer is a regulated sex industry.
It is a contentious call but one which has led to an intense debate on how best to control the world's oldest profession.
