Jim Fitzpatrick, 31, joins the BBC as the regional Presenter on The Politics Show in Northern Ireland.

Jim's background is in journalism and he comes to the BBC following his work as one of the main reporters on Ulster TV's weekly current affairs show 'Insight'.

Recent programmes included an investigation into the affairs of the Northern Ireland hospice which prompted an ongoing government inquiry and an undercover investigation into the poor treatment of hundreds foreign workers in Northern Ireland.

Prior to that Jim held a number of positions in the Northern Ireland morning newspaper, 'The Irish News', including that of Business Editor. Jim Fitzpatrick is looking forward to presenting The Politics Show in Northern Ireland.

Besides politics

Jim began his career in local radio as News Editor of a Mid Ulster based community station and has also spent a year working in corporate public relations.

He is married with two young children and lives in Belfast.
