US company New England Sports Ventures, owner of the Boston Red Sox, completed its takeover of Liverpool FC on Friday.

The move came after former owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett removed the temporary restraining order blocking the £300m sale.

But, as Newsnight's Peter Marshall reports, football, and the Reds in particular, is far from just a business.
