Following the US Democratic party's loss of the key Massachusetts Senate seat formerly held by Ted Kennedy, a seat considered a back-pocket certainty for decades, Newsnight's Jeremy Paxman spoke to Howard Dean.
Mr Dean who stood unsuccessfully as a Democratic Presidential nominee in 2004, was until last year the chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
Paxman began by asking him what went wrong for US President Barack Obama's party in Massachusetts.
