The first index of corporate responsibility has been published in the UK. But how do you assess how well a company behaves? There is no single measurement for goodness. There may not even be agreement on what constitutes good corporate behaviour, even if there is consensus that we would like more of it. More or Less spoke to Patrick Mallon of Business in the Community; and Stephen Hind of the Ethical Investment Research Service, EIRIS. Understanding science Plus, the writer Joseph Schwartz argues that the language of maths took over science at the time of Galileo and we have been paying for it with unintelligibility ever since. Is he right? By invitation, Joseph makes the case on More or Less, and discusses his views with the mathematician Robert Hunt, of Cambridge University. What's in a number?
