On Wednesday 16 November 2011, Money Box Live with Paul Lewis was broadcast live from Harrogate Grammar School Academy, and took questions from an audience of pupils, parents and teachers. There's a big shake up in tuition fee charges and how students will re-pay those fees and loans from from September 2012. Universities in England are trebling tuition fees to up to £9,000 per year. Universities in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will also be able to put up fees from 2012, but their home students will not be affected. The fees will not have to be paid up-front. The threshold at which graduates have to start paying their loans back will rise from £15,000 - £21,000. Each month graduates will pay back 9% of their income above that threshold.
