If you are confused by banking, service, charges or transactions, ask our experts for advice. Chancellor George Osborne has welcomed proposals from the Independent Commission on Banking to reform the UK banking sector. In his Mansion House speech, the Chancellor said that increasing competition in retail banking would defend consumers' interests and that ring-fencing better capitalised high street banks would make them safer. The Financial Services Consumer Panel also say that the key to improving customer service is greater competition, if combined with a transparent charging structure. Are you clear about the level of service you should you expect from your bank and your rights and responsibilities as a customer? And what should happen if you have a dispute with your bank? New rules about how banks should respond to complaints have been brought in by The Financial Services Authority (FSA) and the amount the Financial Ombudsman can award has been raised to £150,000. Vincent Duggleby was joined by: • Mike Dailly, Financial Services Consumer Panel • James Hillon, The Co-operative Bank • Eric Leenders, British Bankers' Association Presenter: Vincent Duggleby Producer: Diane Richardson
