Do you know the cheapest and most efficient way of paying for goods and services or spending money both in the UK and abroad? One method that's free is the Faster Payments Service, which should move money between UK banks in seconds rather than days. Launched three years ago, the system has processed more than one billion payments. But banks still get complaints about gaps in the service. You will often have to pay though for other types of transactions when using a debit or credit card. For example, if you want to purchase goods abroad or buy foreign currency you face being charged a currency conversion fee or a credit card cash advance. If you want to avoid paying some of those hidden charges, our panel of guests will be ready to help. How can I find out if a faster payment will reach my bank account the same day? Which debit or credit cards don't levy charges if I want to buy goods abroad or buy foreign currency? What protection do I have if I don't receive goods after ordering them in the UK or abroad? Vincent Duggleby was joined by: • James Daley, money editor, Which? • Mark Bowerman, UK Payments Administration • Andrew Hagger, Money Net Related Money Box stories: Presenter: Vincent Duggleby Producer: Diane Richardson
