People who give or receive care should be clearer about their rights to services if reforms proposed by the Law Commission are adopted. Recommendations in the report Adult Social Care will give local councils in England and Wales concise rules to govern when they must provide services. In July The Commission on Funding of Care and Support will report on how to meet the cost of care and support. In the meantime, tough decisions about current services are being made. The Association of Directors of Adult Social Services say local councils in England are cutting spending on adult social care by £1bn. Are you entitled to help and where can you seek advice? Can you obtain practical assistance such as equipment or home modification? Who will pay for your care? The council, NHS or you? Will savings, investments or the value of your home matter? What is the process if you or a loved one need to move into a care home ?
