Our benefits system is experiencing the biggest reforms for 60 years. The amount paid for Local Housing Allowance is being reduced this month. A range of other changes are also taking effect, including tests for people claiming Employment and Support Allowance and new rules about Tax Credits and the Sure Start Maternity Grant. In the longer term, the Welfare Reform Bill includes plans to reform Disability Living Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, combine means-tested working age benefits and introduce a household benefits cap.
