As further snowfall disrupts many parts of the UK, insurance companies are warning drivers to beware icy roads and households to protect their water pipes. The Association of British Insurers say that damage to homes, businesses and vehicles caused by freezing weather last year cost £650m. The average cost of fixing a burst or freezing water pipe is £1,790 according, Halifax Home Insurance, who last year dealt with over 18,000 related claims.
