If you are divorcing, dissolving a civil partnership or separating you could have to make difficult financial and personal decisions. It might be necessary to sell your home, divide your assets, split a pension or arrange support for children. And you may want to seek guidance to establish what financial rights and responsibilities you and your partner have when splitting up. Using pre-nuptial contracts has recently been given greater weight by The UK Supreme Court which ruled in favour of the agreement made between wealthy heiress Katrin Radmacher and her husband. Where couples make pre-nuptials freely, have a full appreciation of the implications and the outcome does not prejudice the reasonable needs of children and family, The Supreme Court said they should be given decisive weight.
