On Wednesday's programme Vincent Duggleby and guests took your calls about tax and self assessment. The deadline for filing paper tax returns is just over one month away. If you received a notice to complete a tax return on or before 31 July, and you want to file on paper, you must do so by 31 October. If your return arrives on time, HMRC will calculate your tax for you and tell you what to pay by the following 31 January. File late and you'll be charged an automatic £100 penalty. The deadline for online returns is 31 January. If you need help completing your form and avoiding a fine give the programme a call? Do you understand which records and information you will need to supply? Are you aware of the tax allowance and reliefs available to you? How do you ensure you have the right tax code? What happens if your income has reduced and you can no longer pay HMRC what you owe? And if you have overpaid do you know to obtain a refund if you have paid too much tax? Whatever your concern, Vincent Duggleby and guests were here to offer advice. Vincent was joined by: • Leonie Kerswill, Tax Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers • Mike Warburton Tax Director, Grant Thornton • Anita Monteith, Technical Manager, Tax Faculty, The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales Presenter: Vincent Duggleby Producer: Lesley McAlpine
