On Wednesday's Money Box Live, Vincent Duggleby took your questions about insurance and put them to a panel of experts. The new year has brought sub-zero temperatures, icy roads and dangerous travel conditions across the UK. Meanwhile the AA is forecasting that the upward trend in the cost of car insurance premiums will continue. The AA's latest quarterly index shows that the average quoted premium for comprehensive car insurance has risen to £741.66, an 8.7% increase on last year. The average quoted buildings premium is £218.04, a 7.5% increase compared to £202.82 this time last year. There is slightly better news for home contents customers as the average quoted premium fell by 4.7% from £129.06 this time last year to £122.98. Your budget may have been hit by the credit crunch and you may be considering cutting back on insurance or the cost of insurance. Would you like to renew or purchase a policy? How can you find a competitive deal? Are you confused by insurance jargon? Perhaps you require a specialist policy. Or maybe you want advice on reducing your premiums or pursuing a claim. And who can help if you have a dispute with your insurer? Whatever your question Vincent Duggleby and guests were ready to help. Vincent Duggleby was joined by: • Hayley Parsons from Gocompare.com • Malcolm Tarling of the Association of British Insurers • Peter Staddon, of the British Insurance Brokers' Association
