Money Box scoops award
At the awards ceremony
Paul Lewis (second from left) collects his award
Money Box Presenter Paul Lewis has been named runner up in the Consumer section of the Pensions and Investment Journalist of the Year awards 2002.

Paul Lewis was the only broadcast journalist to receive an award from the Pensions Minister Ian McCartney at the House of Commons on Tuesday.

The judges considered Money Box's two special programmes from 2001 - 'Pensions in Peril' and 'An Inequitable Life'.

The Consumer award was won by Deborah Hargreaves of the Financial Times.

John Chapman of Money Management won the Technical award, while Employee Benefit's Sarah Ball and Pensions Age's Catriona Dean were jointly named Best Newcomers.

The awards, currently in their 18th year are sponsored by Aon Consulting.

Chairman and CEO Ron Amy spoke of the importance of the event:

"The role of journalists in communicating this message clearly and concisely is vital when many people have become pretty disillusioned about pensions and investment returns."

This is the latest in a string of awards won by the Money Box team.

At the British Insurance Brokers Association awards, held last July, Paul Lewis was named Broadcast Journalist of the Year while Chris A'Court was highly commended.

Money Box Live was also named Best Broadcast Programme in the recent Bradford and Bingley Personal Finance Awards.
