Extradition - did Tony Blair get it right?
The 'NatWest 3'
BBC Radio 4's Law in Action was broadcast on Tuesday, 11 July, 2006 at 1600 BST.

Last month we explained the controversy surrounding the extradition arrangements between the UK and the US.

The "NatWest 3" and Gary McKinnon, the computer hacker accused of hacking into US military and NASA computers, are just some of those to have strenuously fought attempts to extradite them. Extradition arrangements between the two nations are governed by the Extradition Act 2003.

Last week Tony Blair told parliament that the US used to be in a uniquely detrimental situation as far as extradition was concerned, and that their evidential standards are 'analogous' to our own. But is that strictly true?

Law in Action has contacted some of the country's top extradition lawyers to find out. One of them, Julian Knowles, explains why he thinks the Prime Minister's comments are misleading.
