This is the advice currently being given by the US Government to its citizens, on what they should do in the event of a terrorist attack.
Radiological attack ('Dirty Bomb')  If you have a shield between yourself and the material you will be less exposed | This is the use of an explosive to spread radioactive material. Minimise the time you spend exposed to the radioactivity. If you have a shield between yourself and the material you will be less exposed. The further away from the explosion, the lower your exposure. Chemical attack This is a deliberate release of toxic material.  If you have symptoms, strip and wash skin gently with soap and water, seek emergency attention. | Take immediate action to get away from any signs of attack (lots of people choking, vomiting, twitching). If the attack is inside a building, leave if you can avoid the contaminated area. If that is impossible, find shelter within the building. If the attack is outside, leave the area, or take shelter in a building. If you have symptoms, strip and wash skin gently with soap and water, seek emergency attention. Biological attack  Cover your mouth and nose with layers of fabric that filter the air but allow breathing | This is a deliberate release of germs or other biological substances. If you are aware of a suspicious substance being released, get away from the substance as quickly as possible. Cover your mouth and nose with layers of fabric that filter the air but allow breathing. Wash with soap and water and contact the authorities.
