We have also included details of how to report abuse, should you wish to do so. Abuse Recovery UK (ARUK) Website: www.aruk.co.uk This website provides interactive support to survivors of sexual abuse. It also has advice on related subjects such as rape, panic attacks, eating disorders and self harm. There is also a partners and parents section. Action Against Abuse of Women and Girls Tel: 01234 785 948 A national registered charity which aims to support groups who are helping, or wish to help, girls and women who have been subjected to sexual abuse, domestic violence, female circumcision, forced prostitution or other abusive practices. BASPCAN (British Association for the Study & Prevention of Child Abuse & Neglect) BASPCAN National Office, 10 Priory Street, York YO1 6EZ BASPCAN is a registered charity which aims to prevent physical, emotional, and sexual abuse and neglect of children. It also aims to promote their well-being and their rights as citizens. It does this through education, campaigning and other activities. Childline Royal Mail Building, Studd Street, London N1 0QW Childline is a national charity and has a free national 24 hour helpline for children in trouble or danger. Childwatch 19 Springbank, Hull HU3 1AS Provides face-to-face, telephone and letter counselling. Free information leaflets are also available on request, please enclose an A4 Sae. Independent Care After Incest and Rape (ICAIR) Head Office, Gatehouse, Whiteways, Gt. Chesterford, Essex CB10 1NX This is a registered charity with a national network of telephone helplines. It prefers callers to write for information. An A4 sae is required and information will be dispatched normally within 3 days. M.A.L.E. (Men's Advice Line and Enquiries) PO Box 402, Sutton, Surrey SM1 3TG The helpline is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 0900 - 2200hrs GMT. Masa (Men Against Sexual Abuse) 44 Bathgate Street, Glasgow G31 1DU Due to lack of funding Masa can only help callers in Scotland. Masa offers help to men who were abused as children or adults or who are victims of male rape. It offers counselling, psychotherapy and hypnotherapy. National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) 42 Curtain Road, London EC2A 3NH The NSPCC aims to prevent child abuse and neglect in all forms. One In Four London 219 Bromley Road, Bellingham, London SE6 2PG Offers support and therapeutic help for women and men who have experienced sexual abuse / rape. Samaritans Website: www.samaritans.org Open 24 hours a day, this is a registered charity giving national cover including the Republic of Ireland. The Samaritans aim to provide confidential emotional support for people in crisis. Contact can be by phone or post. Information is dispatched free of charge. Survivors on the Net Website: www.survivors.org.uk This website provides online support and information for survivors of childhood abuse, their partners, family and friends. It provides: Survivors UK PO Box 2470, London SW9 6WQ Survivors UK offers counselling for men who have experienced sexual abuse / rape. Send a SAE for an information pack. The charity will also respond to specific written enquiries. Reporting Abuse If you would like to report abuse you can contact your local police station who have specially trained Child Protection Team Officers. The child protection teams may be called Female and Child Protection Units. For details of your local police station click on the link below: Police Child Protection Teams The teams investigate allegations or suspicions of child abuse. They work with social workers from Social Services Departments, or representatives of other caring agencies. All police officers and social workers receive joint training in this complex and highly sensitive work. Crimestoppers Website: www.crimestoppers-uk.org Crimestoppers is a registered charity giving national cover. It provides a free phone service to any person with information about crime. It also provides a means through which people can provide anonymous information regarding crime.
