Con Quacks
Paul Kenyon with a blood sample
Kenyon Confronts: Con Quacks was broadcast on 18 June, 2002 on BBC One

Alternative and complimentary medicine is fast becoming part of the mainstream of medical care, with about a third of us having tried one form or another.

It's big business. But with the money have also come the conmen.

The Kenyon team pose as wealthy businessmen to trap the eastern mystic who says his X-ray vision can see the cancer inside your body. Dying patients are told he can offer a guaranteed cure, but at a price of 50,000.

There is the professor who tells desperate patients he can see parasites in their blood. The tiny creatures turn out to be as bogus as his qualifications.

And then there is the convicted drugs dealer who has set himself up in his own healing clinic - only to use to it sell a side-line more suited to his previous profession.
