A former senior official at the European Central Bank (ECB), Juergen Stark, has said progress is being made in tackling the European debt crisis even though some countries are struggling to meet their deficit targets.
Mr Stark, who resigned last year as the ECB's chief economist, told HARDtalk's Stephen Sackur that pumping more money into the system would not in itself solve the crisis as individual countries needed to also tackle their own economic and fiscal weaknesses.
