As the British, and global, economies are being battered by financial meltdown and subsequent recession Stephen Sackur spoke to one of the Bank of England's key policy strategists.
Andrew Sentence left the Bank's monetary policy committee just three months ago after five years service.
He is now free to speak his mind about the arguments that continue to rage, both in the UK and overseas, about the best way to deliver those elusive qualities - stability and growth.
