Marias's best known novels include All Souls and A Heart So White |
In a HardTalk Extra interview screened on 3rd March, Gavin Esler talked to one of Spain's most successful contemporary novelists, Javier Marias.
Javier Marias is one of Spain's best-known writers.
The author of a dozen novels, he's also translated books by great authors such as Vladimir Nabokov, Thomas Hardy and John Updike into Spanish.
He is one of a generation of Spanish intellectuals who want to end the "pact of silence" over the dictatorship of Francisco Franco.
Why does he believe that Spain has not yet tackled its past?
