Sydney Pollack is used to directing some of Hollywood's biggest stars

Hollywood veteran Sydney Pollack is a renaissance man of film, equally at home directing, acting or producing.

He came to international attention in the late 60s with the Depression-era classic They Shoot Horses, Don't They?

He went on to direct some of Robert Redford?s best-loved films, including The Way We Were, and Out of Africa, which won Pollack an Oscar.

For his latest endeavour, The Interpreter, Pollack gained unprecedented access to film in the United Nations General Assembly.

Mishal Husain asks him whether this much maligned institution in the US needs a thumbs-up from Hollywood.
