Is it safe to go on holiday in North Africa?

For people living in North Africa and the Middle East, 2011 has been a traumatic year, notably in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya, where old regimes have fallen and there is hope for a new, more peaceful future.

Each of those countries shares something else too - a geography and history incredibly tempting to tourists. When revolution broke out, many resorts became deserted and airlines abandoned popular routes. So as the Arab Spring turns into winter - is it safe to return?
