Thailand's hidden tsunami survivors
A displaced Burmese family at a shelter
Many migrants are now being repatriated by the Thai authorities
BBC Radio 4's Crossing Continents was broadcast on Thursday, 24 March, 2005, at 1100 GMT.

The programme was repeated on Monday, 28 March, 2005 at 2030 BST.

Thousands of people are still missing in Thailand following the Asian tsunami.

But while desperate efforts have been made to locate many loved ones, there are some who would prefer not to be found.

For this week's Crossing Continents, Tanya Datta travelled to Thailand to track down the tsunami's invisible victims, Burmese migrant workers.

She spoke to those who once worked in the coastal areas but are now in hiding, fearful of arrest and deportation.

And she discovered that the devastating impact of the tidal wave on one of the most vulnerable groups in Thailand has been twofold.

Presenter: Tanya Datta
Producer: Aasiya Lodhi
