| Minister of Rage: Your comments Gary Younge examines what Farrakhan means to African-Americans, and asks why a leader of Black America is banned by the British Government? These are some of your comments on the programme. I wanted to congratulate Gary Younge and the team for producing such an interesting and informative programme. It is rare that black issues are given such intelligent coverage. Like Gary I was impressed by Farrakhan's views about September 11 as well as horrified by his earlier rabble-rousing anti-Semitism. This is not a programme I regularly watch but I will certainly look out for it from now on. Thanks. The programme made no attempt to distinguish true orthodox Islam from the cult based beliefs of Mr Farrakhan. For the fair-minded viewer, this programme (like many others) used the name of Islam in a negative light. The Nation of Islam are NOT Muslims, they claim to be but they are not, your programme should of emphasised this fact. The Qumran teaches absolute equality between all races and colours whereas the Nation preach that white people have a devilish nature which is ingrained within their souls. Just want to say how good I thought the programme was on Sunday re: Louis Farrakhan. Gary Younge's report was very informative and balanced. As the former chair of Brent East Labour Party (in the 1980's), we always took the line that Farrakhan should be banned from the UK because of his anti-Semitic views. The programme on Sunday has made me reconsider. Although, I would disagree with his political perspectives, in the interest of free speech, I would now take the view that he should not be banned from the UK. I don't think he poses a serious danger that warrants a banning order. Excellent programme. I look forward to seeing more of Gary Younge on TV. Cannot see any justification for denying us the opportunity to make up our own minds about Louis Farrakhan. Good to explore critically the racism in the response to Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam but I was disappointed that you left out the question of women's roles- excluding women from the march on Washington/ male breadwinners etc, What about the sexism here? Farrakhan is a dangerous individual. His style of Islam would appeal to extreme Islamic Fundamentalists and would be a danger to this country. Particularly at this time when Britain is supporting the US in its fight against terror and that terror is seen to come from the Islamic world. Beneath his veneer there is something quite sinister, as was stated in the programme, more like the Mafia than a religious organisation. I would be extremely worried if this government ever agreed to allow him in to the UK. Commenting on M Farrakhan, I believe this man has a lot of good to offer not just black people but every body, I am in full support of him coming to the UK. I give my full support for Mr Farrakhan. Whilst I do not particularly subscribe to Mr Farrakhan's beliefs. I think he should be allowed to visit this country, if only to allow that "nice Mr Paxman" of the BBC to interview him. Failing that, John Humphreys of radio 4 would certainly ask the "embarrassing" questions that Mr Farrakhan would wish to avoid? By refusing him entry, we deny the British public the opportunity to judge for themselves. I don't think we have anything to fear from this man, because as soon as he asks for the first donation of $1000 for his "personal fund" the honeymoon would be over! The Correspondent documentary on Louis Farrakhan, minister of rage was an interesting insight of the leader of the nation of Islam. I am a firm believer that Farrakhan should be allowed into England because as your documentary stated he has never been part of, or ordered acts of violence therefore what basis does the government have to reject his entry. He has stated that he is not anti-Semitic and does not aim to influence others ideas, all he wants is an opportunity to speak and let his opinions be heard. I enjoyed tonight's documentary on Mr Farrakhan from the excellent Gary Younge. For me it would have benefited from pressing home this tough issue: Farrakhan uses the language of transcendence but what does he evidence in terms of its reality both politically and personally? This surely was the test which Malcolm X, Martin L. King and Hury P. Newton all passed in order to claim the mantle of greatness. Farrakhan's claim is clear, but the jury is surely still out on his success in meeting this test. It is absolutely absurd that Farrakhan is not allowed to enter the U.K. just to speak. With no history of violence, how can the government defend any blockade to his entry. In this world any semblance of democracy is slipping away to reveal ugly corruption, reactionary media stirred and unthinking public, and deferral of sensible debate due to flailing and useless political correctness. New and improved right wing warmongers that Labour are ought to stop mothering the nation and educate them.
