Two thirds of all kidnappings anywhere on earth take place in Colombia - and the families of victims are bled dry to meet ransom demands.

But even if they do pay up, there's no guarantee the missing relative will be returned.

The kidnappers are often political rebels, but now criminal gangs are moving in on this lucrative "business" and their targets are random.

Anyone with anything faces abduction.
