Classrooms are turning away from desktops and traditional computer labs and looking towards mobile and the cloud for their teaching technology.

From distance learning with Skype, using laptops in place of textbooks, and iPads with self-developed apps - teaching has come a long way from chalk on the blackboard. Ian Hardy reports from New York.
