Sir David was joined this week by the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto, and the Shadow Foreign Secretary Michael Ancram to speak about the tense situation over the disputed territory of Kashmir. We also spoke to Michael Ancram about President Bush's visit to Europe, the situation in Gibraltar and the stance Iain Duncan Smith is taking over asylum seekers. Asylum seekers was a subject that was also addressed by the Liberal Democrat's home affairs spokesman Simon Hughes.

Also on the programme - a discussion about the growth and popularity of history programmes on television - Sir David was joined by Professor Simon Schama, whose new series of "A History of Britain" starts on BBC 2 this week, and by the distinguished historian Professor Eric Hobsbawm.

The latest situation in the Middle East and the decline in popularity of the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was discussed in an interview with the Palestinian Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat.
