| ![]() Sunday 10th February on BBC One Sir David Frost was joined this week by Lady Elizabeth Shakerley, the cousin of Princess Margaret, the Education Secretary Estelle Morris, the Chief Medical Officer for England, Sir Liam Donaldson, the BBC Director General, Greg Dyke and Lord Lloyd Webber. The paper revewiers were the actress Sheila Hancock plus the millionaire businessman Ivan Massow who caused a stir a year ago when he defected from the Tories to Labour ... and a stir last week when he poured scorn on the artitistic abilities of Tracy Emin and some of her contemporaries. Lady Elizabeth Shakerley told Sir David that it was a very sad weekend and said the way Princess Margaret was depicted by the press was often too harsh. Estelle Morris spoke about the Government's plans to increase the importance of vocational subjects, such as tourism, design and engineering, by giving them GCSE and 'A' level status. She said that we should be ashamed that vocational qualifications haven't been held in the same esteem as traditional exams. Sir Liam Donaldson confirmed that he believes the MMR vaccine is the best way to protect chilldren. He admitted at the moment the Government doesn't believe that the message is getting through. Greg Dyke told Sir David that there is no question of BBC political coverage "dumbing down". And Andrew Lloyd Webber spoke about his decision to close his musicals Starlight Express and Cats. But said that this wasn't the end of his involement in the West End - his new musical Bombay Dreams opens in June.
